Chicago, on Lake Michigan in Illinois, is among the largest cities in the U.S. Famed for its bold architecture, it has a skyline punctuated by skyscrapers such as the iconic John Hancock Center, 1,451-ft. Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower. The city is also renowned for its museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago with its noted Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works.
I used to travel to Chicago often for work, and I loved it. I have to admit I don’t miss it too much now, so I am glad I got my time in pre-pandemic.
The food is phenomenal and the shopping is exquisite. Many of the hotels have a lot of history to them. I always stayed at the Drake on the Magnificent Mile, which is on North Michigan Avenue. Oh if those walls could talk. So many famous people have walked those halls and slept in those beds! I would get my walks in along Michigan Avenue, taking in the beautiful architecture.
