Clams

One of my favorite memories growing up at my grandparents house “down the shore” in Manasquan NJ, was eating clams. I was eating these things as a baby and now my granddaughter can eat about 5 dozen on her own!   To ensure you have a good experience when cooking and eating clams, follow these tips!

🦪Inspect every clam and ensure they are not opened, or cracked. If so, toss it in the trash.

🦪Clams should be cooked within 48 hours of purchase.

🦪Scrub them thoroughly.

🦪Soak those babies and get them to spit the sand out.  Add 1 tbsp of salt to 2 cups of water. If you have a lot of clams like we usually do then double that.  Place clams in salt water and let them be for atleast 30 minutes. You will see the sediment dropping to the bottom of the water.  Remove and repeat this step.  Your clams should be sand free at this time.

🦪Steam and just eat with drawn butter, or add to sauces and cover with a lid, serving as soon as they open.
