The Negroni was born at the Caffè Casoni in Florence. The year was 1919. There's no documented historical account, but it is believed by cocktailians that Count Camillo Negroni invented the drink when he ordered an Americano made with gin in place of the usual soda water. Now whats an Americano you may ask? Its campari, vermouth and soda Water. So hats off to Count Negroni for adding the gin, as it was a game changer. There is just something so sexy about drinking this cocktail that was created in a cafe in Florence Italy.
You will need:
1 oz dry gin ( I like Tanquaray)
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth (Antica)
Orange or lemon
Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice for 30 seconds or more, strain over a highball glass filled cubed ice. Garnish with orange or lemon rind.
