Who Needs Napa? 🍇Overmountain Vineyards

The first stop on our day excursion of wine tastings and cheese pairings was Overmountain Vineyards.  I parked the car and as I looked around, the surroundings took my breath away.  Rows and rows of grapevines on a rolling hill enveloped by Tuscan Cypress trees.  As we walked up to the tasting room, the gardens were filled with so many different varieties of flowers and flowering bushes, butterflies were everywhere.

This is a beautiful, sprawling 70 acre, family owned farm, with an atmosphere that automatically puts you in a zen mood even before your first sip of wine!  The winemakers use innovative techniques to develop handcrafted and distinctive French-style wines.  The 18 acres of grapes provide a selection of wines such as Petit Manseng, an elegant aromatic white originally from southwest France, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.  Since outside food is welcome, we enjoyed our first cheese here.

The grounds even have luxury villas! Each will  sleep four guests (in two bedrooms) and have two full bathrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc. Villas have a private driveway and free parking for your convenience.

The villas and vineyard are located approximately five minutes from Tryon International Equestrian Center and an hour from either Greenville, SC, or Asheville, NC.
