Our second stop on our day of wine and cheese pairings was Parker-Binns Vineyard. You will find this multi-generation family owned and operated vineyard and winery nestled on 40 acre estate in the Tryon foothills. From a long standing food and beverage career at the Jersey Shore, to a tree farm and nursery in South Florida, Bob and Karen Binns decided to retire. But you know how that goes! After only a couple of years of retirement, they were bored and needed inspiration. With their background in the food and beverage industry, they decided that they wanted to be part of the emerging East Coast wine industry. They searched up and down the region and finally found what they felt was the perfect parcel, 10 acres in the Tryon Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their daughter, grandson AND great grandson have joined the family business.
Their restaurant is called Relish, with unique foods from shareables to burgers.
They have several varietals, also including a Petit Manseng, but my favorite was the red named after their rescue dog, and portion of each bottle of Loco Lulu sold goes to local animal rescue organizations.
The inside vibe is very casual, but when you walk out back you feel like you are in another world. The views are beyond spectacular and you will even spot some Llamas back there!
